What are ducks?

Ducks are outgoing, social animals who feel most at ease when they’re in a larger group consisting of other ducks. They spend their time looking for food in the grass or in shallow water, and they sleep together at night. Ducks are extremely clean animals who keep their homes free of waste and debris, and they enjoy cleaning their feathers and flaunting their beautiful plumage for potential mates. In nature, they may live for approximately 10 years.

A duck is a member of the Anatidae family of birds. Most ducks have elongated and broad bodies with relatively long necks. Their bills are broad, long, strongly serrated and contain lamellae, which helps the duck strain small organisms out of the water and mud. Their short and pointed wings allows them to create fast continuous strokes that help for flight. They have strong legs that are set far back on their bodies. Their body is compact and efficient, allowing for streamline fishing and the preservation of body hear when immersed in the water. Contrary to popular belief, very few ducks have "quack" calls, as most of them whistle, squeak, or growl.
